...Severe thunderstorms expected over parts of the Portions of the
central and southern Plains this afternoon and tonight...

* LOCATIONS...
  Kansas
  Northwest Missouri
  Extreme southeast Nebraska
  Northwest Oklahoma

* HAZARDS...
  Widespread damaging winds, some hurricane force
  A few intense tornadoes
  Widespread large hail, some baseball size

* SUMMARY...
  Severe thunderstorms are expected across parts of the southern
  and central Plains into the middle Mississippi Valley this
  afternoon into tonight. Swaths of damaging winds, large to very
  large hail, and several tornadoes are anticipated, especially
  from western/central Oklahoma across southern to eastern KS and
  northern to central MO.

means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms
